I just had one.
I was going to be upset about the fact that despite being an adult she treats the people closest to her like shit, leaving us to feel insignificant, worthless, and stupid. She gets her kicks by bringing others down; I get mine by being in positive environments, and surrounding myself with people who love and care for me as I do them.
For all of those times you left me feeling shit about myself, like I was pathetic and mediocre, fat, stupid, lazy, incompetent… whatever your insult was for the day—thank you. It took me YEARS to realize it, but I’m not those things. I am damn better than that! And when people told me that in the past, I could have believed them. I deserved to believe them. I will never let my life transform into one of such bitterness ever again, and never ever to the extent that yours has become and probably always will be.
I had a dream about it again last night, you berating the shit out of me over something meaningless. I felt so helpless for what felt like forever, until I just got fed up with it. I told you that I was an adult and didn’t have to put up with your crap ever again, and then I just left (way to go subconscious me!). Talking to you again right now confirmed that, I don’t have to put up with it anymore…I can cut those painful ties forever.
This post isn’t a rant, it’s a message of gratitude. Thank you for making me a strong person, I’m going to live that out as best I can every day for the rest of my life starting now.
This is my next step to happiness.
